The history of climate, Andean uplift, and Amazon basin hydrologic connectivity will be interpreted by integrating multiple tools, including analysis of geophysical variables measured via core logging (e.g., magnetic susceptibility, natural gamma radiation, electrical resistivity, sonic velocity), mineralogy, sedimentology, organic and inorganic geochemistry, and microfossils. Standard core logging and description of core sedimentology will provide the framework for decisions about our initial sampling for analysis of geochemical and paleobiotic variables.
